Rich Media Banners
Definition & Dimensions: Standard banners (728x90 pixels) which employ rich media technologies such as HTML, Flash, and Java.
Rich Media File Size: (Up to) 20k on initial load; (Up to) an additional 80k may be loaded after a user "mouses over" (moves their cursor over) or clicks on the banner.
Expansion: A banner may expand up to 728x210 if the user mouses over or clicks on it. If the banner expands on rollover, it should automatically close when the cursor moves off the banner. If the banner expands on click, it can remain expanded until the user clicks a clearly labeled "close" button.
Non-Rich File Size: Non-rich media file size should be no more than 30k.
Audio/Video: A banner may play audio and/or video after a user clicks on it. The banner should also display a visible "stop" or "pause" button once the audio/video begins.
Rich Media IMU Rectangles
Definition & Dimensions: Interactive Marketing Units (300x250 pixels), which use rich media technologies such as HTML, Flash, and Java.
Rich Media File Size: (Up to) 20k on initial load; (Up to) 3 additional loads of (up to) 80k each may be initiated if a user moves their cursor over or clicks on the rectangle.
Non-Rich File Size: Non-rich media file size should be no more than 30k.
Audio/Video: A rectangle may play audio and/or video content after a user clicks on it. The rectangle should also display a visible "stop" or "pause" button once the audio/video begins.
Rich Media IMU Skyscrapers
Definition & Dimensions: Interactive Marketing Units (160x600 pixels), which use rich media technologies such as HTML, Flash, and Java.
Rich Media File Size: (Up to) 20k on initial load; (Up to) 3 additional loads of (up to) 80k each may be initiated if a user moves their cursor over or clicks on the skyscraper.
Non-Rich File Size: Non-rich media file size should be no more than 30k.
Audio/Video: A skyscraper may play audio and/or video content after a user clicks on it. The skyscraper should also display a visible "stop" or "pause" button once the audio/video begins.
Pop-Under #1
Definition: Pop-unders automatically launch a new browser window when a Web page is loaded.
Dimensions: Pop-unders should be a maximum of 250x250 pixels.
Rich Media File Size: The pop-under's file size should be no more than 20k.
Co Registration
Co Registration Specs:
- Up to 2 lines of text (90 characters total)
- 88x31 logo (MUST BE STATIC) no click thru url
- reporting requirements:
- possible fields for report: name, title, email address, phone number and physical address.
- reporting frequency: daily, weekly, monthly, and end of the campaign
- reporting may be cumulative or provide only new names
Direct Email
Text Specs
- Copy: 20 lines, 60 characters per line (max) including URLs.
- Subject line: 45 characters or less.
- "From" line on all e-mails will be Hoover's Online.
- All e-mails will include an unsubscribe option at the bottom of the e-mail.
- All e-mails will contain an explanation header for Hoover's Online subscribers.
- All final creative must be delivered to Hoover's five business days before delivery date for review.
- Please specify who is responsible for tracking (Hoover's or the advertiser).
- Please identify who needs to receive test e-mails prior to general distribution (test list).
- Please identify who needs to receive the final email (seed list).
- E-mails are scheduled to drop on Tuesdays, unless otherwise specified.

Testing Guidelines
Stability: Ads should be tested for stability in a variety of browser and platform combinations, as described below. Stability is defined as not causing error messages, dialog windows, browser crashes or system crashes.
Browser/Platform Combinations to Test: Web sites and networks should individually determine detailed testing matrices relevant to their specific users. These matrices should be publicly available and updated regularly.
Vendor Matrices: Vendors should publish detailed matrices indicating the browser and platform combinations in which their technologies are stable.
